My PC trojan problem

Post by Manse on Wed Oct 01, 2008 3:31 pm

well my pc is back up and running after 3 days of bein screwed up by a trojan , i was using AVG free which is a bit of a pointless programme really , it lets the trojan in , tells you that you have it and then says there is nothing it can do about it ( cheers ) , well this time it took a hard drive with it and it was the one my vista operating system was on and it kicked it out of the bios too , anyway to cut a long story short i have now split all my drives up into seperate partitions and have got 3 operating systems on different hard drives so if 1 goes down i have 2 options to boot up in and hopefully sort it out , i have now bought Kaspersky internet security which seems really good as it wont even open a file if it is unsafe to do so but was wondering on other peoples issues and problems and is there anything else i can do to keep my pc safe from the tossers who put these trojans into files

Dood the VERY Best free product is Sygate Personal Firewall. Its brilliant,

i use it with combination of avg7 and its sorts it out no problem, since i used this setup i have never had so much as spyware on my pc. well except google.

I also use registry mechanic, to keep everything clean and tidy.

Some other bits and bobs like everest and cpuz. to monitor things.

But i would say d/l sygate and you wont be disappointed. NB.. it doesn't work on vista.

Firewall = LINK
Anti - Virus = LINK
Reg Cleaner = LINK
PC Monitor = LINK

All available either from links or err can be acquired by other means....

Finally DOOOOD stay away from the donkey rape porn, that shit always has virus's in it Smile

Never had a problem with an AVG/Zonealarm combination until recently. Zonealarm started screwing with my Trusted and Internet zones so I had to drop the security settings in order to access the net.

I've since ditched Zonealarm, and looking for a decent firewall to replace it. Sygate sounds interesting though Jay, I'll take a look Very Happy
